For TechFest Northwest and MusicFest Northwest, Instrument created an interactive light installation that brought together the music and energy of the music festival with a wide array of technologies. Ten large tetrahedrons were constructed with RGB LED strips in the legs. The color and motion of the light was driven by the MusicFest performances, and could also be influenced by visitors to the installation via a mobile web app.
Ten PixelPusher modules were used, one for each structure. Custom software tools were built to position the structures, the position information was carried through the project to generate SVG images for the website, as well as control the final simulation to produce spatial effects synchronized with the physical layout.
